Vuyo Dwane

Vuyokazi Dwane – Vuyo - is responsible for the FAIS Education Outreach project.

In recent weeks, she has worked closely with the media to distribute educational content to South African schools linking the “space” theme to subjects like Science and Mathematics.

With the help of Anna Pietrzyk and Michelle Liao, Vuyo is also working with South Africa’s Department of Education to organise a Clinic for Science and Mathematics Educators from 102 schools. The Clinic, which takes place in early April, will be the first such conference hosted for South African teachers and will focus on addressing performance obstacles encountered in the education system, particularly at matriculation level.

Vuyo completed her Bachelor of Social Science and Postgraduate Diploma in Management at the University of Cape Town in 1994, after which she worked as a Change Management consultant at Andersen Consulting (Accenture) and Telkom SA. A career change towards the end of 1999 led her to Adcorp Holdings, where she spent a year as a Customer Relationship Manager, after which she returned to university to complete her MBA.

Vuyo sees her spare time as an opportunity to reconnect with family and friends - incredibly supportive and patient people during periods when she allows herself to be absorbed in a flurry of work-related activity. She also enjoys a variety of music, especially Soul and Rhythm & Blues from the ‘60s and ‘70s.
