It takes tens of people, experts from a variety of departments, to coordinate the detailed in-flight program. Ballistics experts predict the exact trajectory of the ISS and the Soyuz, communications experts then figure out precisely when we will have communications capability and what kind of quality those sessions will be, and everything else follows from there. The logistics folks have to work out a plan for the main station crew, and the visiting crew, and ensure that limited resources are used efficiently without overlaps or collisions. |
