A Dream in Motion
Motion is a six-piece Cape Town based rock group consisting of Grant
Shuttleworth (vocals), Malcolm Burger (lead guitar), Braam Cilliers (rhythm
guitar), Ronnie Belcher (drums), Steven van Heerden (bass), and Esther Roos
(keyboard and backing vocals) and was formed in November 2001.
Together they combine their diverse musical interests and backgrounds in creating
spectacular music.
The media attention around the song "dream" has been phenomenal. The song
was written as a gift to Mark from the band prior to his lift off into
space. The track has been played with footage of Markıs adventures in Russia
and on the International Space Station. The track has been flighted on
Carte Blanche regularly and has been used as a music video ³filler² on Mnet.
It was screened on SABC prime time news and eTV. It is posted on DSTV and
CNN International has requested a copy.
Over and above that, the song has been getting radio air- time from
5fm(Darren Scott, Mark Gilman, Alex Jay), KFM, RSG, UCT Radio, Matie FM,
Cats Radio and Heldeberg Radio. Newspapers such as Argus and Die Burger have
covered the story and interviews with FMR, Tyger Talk, Stage Magazine, etc
have been lined up. The band is currently in negotiation with various people
regarding taking the next step.
Motion is in no way trying to "coat tail" on the success that Mark
Shuttleworth has worked so hard to create for himself. The band feels that
they have worked hard enough on their own to qualify for any success that
may come their way. They do, however, realize the enormous potential of the
opportunity that has been presented to them and are working hard to meet the
challenge and follow their own dream.
